weekly update
his week was a really encouraging reminder of how God is working through BOOMSAUCE and the relationships we are building in the community.
The high school students had their second week of school, which meant I got to meet a lot of the new ninth graders from Fayetteville High School after school. One afternoon, I ran into a group of students at one of my stops around the city, a local smoothie shop. While I was there, I met a freshman named Maddox. The next day, I saw him again at a soccer game. As soon as he saw me, he came over and said, “You gave me a ribbon!” It was such a small interaction, but it was really cool to see that he remembered me from the day before and recognized the connection we had made.
Throughout the week, I also met several students at FHS who were incoming freshmen or a sophomore transfer student who already knew about BOOMSAUCE. Some of them had found our ministry through Instagram or TikTok, which was really encouraging to hear. A few of the girls told me that they had also started looking for a local church and had found congregations at New Heights and Cross Church. One of the girls shared that her dad had moved their family to the area to work at JB Hunt. It was exciting to hear how these students are already looking for community and ways to grow in their faith after moving to a new place.
Another highlight from the week was discipleship with Michael. Our conversation was really fruitful, especially as we talked about what a blessing it is to have confidence in the Lord. Michael shared how rewarding it has been to be led by Jacob, his roommate, and me. He said that it has been really cool to be surrounded by people who encourage him, lift him up, and challenge him in his devotion to the Lord. We talked about how a strong relationship with the Lord is built through consistency, prayer, and intentionally pursuing Him. It was encouraging to hear Michael recognize the importance of those things and to see how God is using community to help him grow.
